Durban born singer songwriter Natalie Rungan is about to launch her 5th album entitled “One Heart”. This independent recording artist, producer, arranger and talented songbird has come a long way, making a name for herself in both Jazz and Gospel circles alike. “One Heart” is the second gospel album in her stable of now 5 albums. “Grace is shouting out”, the first gospel album, won over many new fans with several churches now play listing Natalie’s songs in their worship sets.
“One Heart” has 11 brand new songs, which were written, arranged and produced by Natalie for her local church NCF North. Each song is an expression of her personal experience and revelation of text from the bible, adapted from teachings by her pastor, Apostle Mervyn Jean Louis. This has become the signature formula for Natalie’s songwriting, following the trend of hymn writers of old. Natalie called the album “One Heart” in reference to John 4:23, which says: “the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.”
The album features a group of talented and accomplished musicians who have been friends of the artist for many years. “It was my desire to find musicians who would not only play the music brilliantly, but would worship together, bringing life to the songs. I could not have asked for more than this bunch”, said Natalie.
With Brent Quinton on guitars, Jezreel Sardinne on keyboards, Clinton Pillay on bass and husband Bruce Baker on drums, the album brought hearts together in worship, resulting in songs that will draw the listener into worship. A distinctive sound of the album is it’s live feel, which was a deliberate choice of Natalie’s to keep the album close to an authentic worship experience. So what the listener hears is as it happened in the studio. Long time friend and engineer extraordinaire Richard Mitchell, recorded the album at the Playhouse Studios in Durban. The album also features John Ellis and Ernie Smith on guitars, with Marcelle Bowden, Susan Andrew and Zoe Jean Louis on backup vocals.
“One Heart” is set to be launched in KZN on the 8th, 9th and 10th of December. For full launch details visit www.natalierungan.co.za
